What Folio is
Folio is a free, editor-kept index of the web — at present 794 websites filed by hand across 22 sections. It carries on the tradition of the early-web directories: sites are arranged by subject by people, not ranked by a black-box algorithm, so you can browse and stumble on things rather than guess the right search phrase.
Editorial & review policy
Nothing appears until an editor has looked at it. We confirm a site is real, reachable, and filed in the right section, and we lift a short description from the page itself so each entry is honest about what it offers. We turn away malware, deceptive pages, and thin doorway sites.
Outbound links carry rel="nofollow" — Folio is an index, not a link-selling operation. We keep the catalogue tidy by hand precisely so it stays worth reading instead of collapsing into spam.
Free, always
Listing your website costs nothing. There is no paid tier, no "priority review" fee, and no upsell. The index grows because real owners file real sites.
Who keeps it
Folio is maintained by its editors, who review submissions and curate the sections. Spot an entry that is wrong, dead, or misfiled? Tell us and we will put it right.
Submit your site
If you run a legitimate website, you can submit it to Folio in under a minute — choose a section, paste your URL, and we will take care of the description.
